creations - library music
What is Library Music? Otherwise known as Production Library Music, it is "off-the-shelf" music usually used behind the scenes, business to business. Often used on TV or radio, in programmes or commercials or the bits inbetween or for corporate videos/DVDs. There is a standard rate card for use. It relies entirely on the usage to generate royalties.
Most Library albums are "genre specific", death metal, r+b, aztec nose flute, whatever the genre of the moment is.
My break was back in 1996 or 97, when Bob Last, my manager at the time, was shopping me around for a publishing deal. Extreme Music, the self-named bad boys of Library Music, launched their label with my first CD "Creation" (pic 06). It was perfect for me. My work was very diverse and I didn't want to be pigeon-holed. There was some neo-classical, some "world", some dance, some pop. It went well, so they asked for another one. "Creation 2K" (pic 07). I still hear both these albums in use today. You have most likely heard them too.
The series continues on my own label with "Creations 3". 44 tracks of varying styles and lengths, with a fabulous sleeve by Dan at Barnbrook and pressed by Nimbus/Wyastone.
